HVAC/Green Building | CityTech + ClimateYou
ConEd has long supported City Tech to educate and to inform the public of climate related sciences that can be put to practical uses. This pilot program will teach Continuing Education students climate science and how to use climate model data so they can understand climate risks and apply the knowledge in practical applications.

Course Introduction
This course examines climate science and its direct implications for buildings and the communities that depend on them. Participants develop a working understanding of how Earth’s climate is changing, why those changes matter for the built environment, and how cities like New York are responding.
Developed in partnership with City Tech and ClimateYou, the course connects climate science fundamentals with urban buildings, HVAC systems, and resilience planning in New York City.
Topics
- Climate science fundamentals and observed trends
- How climate change affects buildings
- HVAC systems, energy, and emissions
- Urban heat island and building responses
- NYC climate impacts: heat, floods, sea level
- Environmental justice and neighborhood vulnerability
- City-level resilience planning and policy
