Climate change affects America in so many ways and most people don’t care about it. People don’t care for the simple fact that they think things won’t get really bad until we’re old or dead. This is untrue because lots of things we are experiencing now, like warmer winters, more of these types of things will continue happening when we are in our middle age years.
I will be talking about how geographical regions, sectors and communities will suffer the aftermath of climate change. Climate change is basically the change in conditions such as temperature or precipitation in regions over a time period.

There are many different types of geographical regions in America and climate change will impact them all differently. For instance, in the article We broke down what climate change will do, region by region by the Grist staff, the Northeast will experience sea levels rising, ocean warming, warmer winters, and more forest growth. The Southeast will encounter warm days and nights. This is bad because, according to the article, “urban and rural areas alike can expect to sweat through up to 100 additional warm nights per year.” The Caribbean can expect to have seasons that are longer and drier and short wetter seasons and can expect to lack fresh water, as cited in the Grist article, which claims that climate change is already in the Caribbean and can only worsen as time goes on.
In the Midwest, lots of yields will decrease due to hot temperature, toxic algae blooms and depriving the water of oxygen. The Northern Great Plains will experience winters that will end earlier and snow will continue declining. This is bad because ̈warmer winters and less precipitation have enabled the bugs to kill off huge swaths of forest in the region. The Southern Great Plains will continue to have drought. The Northwest will have less snow melt, which could impact the salmon habitat, dry out farms, and harm the region’s industry outdoors. The Southwest is going to continue to run out of water. Alaska, will have more wildfires. Lastly, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands will experience sea levels rising, drought, flooding and extreme temperatures. Different regions will experience different things.
Agriculture and climate change go hand in hand with each other which means agriculture contributes to climate change. According to the article Agricultures role in addressing a changing climate by Bayer, farmers are working towards their goal of a carbon-zero future. Also even though climate change is a challenge they will face, the Bayer article states that “it is also an opportunity for us to reimagine what we can accomplish through agriculture.” ̈The industry literally plays a huge part in trying to put a hold on greenhouse gas emissions like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen oxide that contribute to climate change. In the article How Climate Change Is Affecting Tourism by Janeen Christoff, she says there are warmer weathers in a lot of good places due to climate change but it’s not good for the destinations that are meant to be cold. She also explains how tourism is responsible for “5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions” because of how tourists travel to and from their destination.
Climate change will lastly affect the community. This will affect farmers who will have to adapt to new techniques to grow various crops and increasing prices. City dwellers will experience being vulnerable because of an aging infrastructure. According to Climate Impacts on Society by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “This includes drainage and sewer systems, flood and storm protection assets, transportation systems, and power supply during periods of peak demand.” This will also affect the people in poverty because they will still be struggling even more just to try and get the necessities they need to survive.
Climate change affects lots of places in the world. Geographical regions will be affected of course, but not all in the same way. According to where they are at, they will all experience the effect of climate change and only certain regions will have some similarities. Sectors of agriculture, industry and tourism also will experience effects from climate change but some will also try to work around them. Lastly, although lots of communities will be struggling there can be different ways we can improve the things going on in our community.
