Global Warming: Nothing New by City-Tech Blogger Huang Huang

Is the global temperature warming? In short, yes, there is a lot of evidence. There is no conclusive evidence yet. In detail, warming is on the 100-year scale and there are many fluctuations on the 10-year scale. On the 100-year scale, the rate of warming itself has also increased, while the high latitudes in the northern hemisphere have increased faster than those in the low latitudes. The troposphere is the underlying atmosphere that is about 10 km above the surface. The lower panel shows the average temperature curve. Global temperatures have risen significantly over the past 150 years and the rate of increase has accelerated. How can humanity cause global climate change? In short, humans emit greenhouse gases that prevent energy from being released from Earth into space and increase temperatures. It can be said that more solar energy is contained within the atmosphere. The further explanation is relatively complicated. In general, the Earth is in an energy balance, accepting energy from short-wave radiation of sunlight, and radiating energy back to space through long-wave radiation (infrared rays); this is a balance of energy and temperature stability. Every gas in the atmosphere has its own preference for the wavelengths it absorbs, and greenhouse gases are more likely to absorb long-wave radiation. After absorbing long-wave radiation, the temperature of the gas will increase, and at the same time it will increase the energy input to the surface (also long-wave radiation). After warming, the atmosphere and surface will release more energy into space, so the final earth will still reach the energy balance, but will stay at a higher temperature. Since these warmings are simple mechanisms of classical physics, scientists have long known the effects of greenhouse gases and the possible consequences of human emissions of carbon dioxide. For example, Nobel Prize-winning scientist Svante Arrhenius gave a calculation in 1896. GS Callendar also gave a result in 1938, but at the time there was not enough observation data to verify it. Therefore, people did not act seriously in the early 20th century. However, the corresponding basic mechanism is the early consensus.
